...more war

Still poised...and ready for battle

They need more help

...and more

Keep an eye on those Sandpans

...the lookout sees them..."these guys are our best defense"

"Twidgets" posing at their battle station

More bullets from heaven

Cooling that aft gun barrel...hangfire in mount 52

Gotta hump ammo...nights too

Forward mount ...up and firing multiple salvos...we're singing

Always an earned break

Lots of brass casings here...$$$ over the side

"Found time to eat...nice...sleep...time for that too?"

Chess anyone?

...It's the Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Elmo Zumwalt from Washington...he came to talk and listen to us! I hear "The boss takes and answers our questions too?"

Someone's dropping in

...and another impotant man's onboard

here's another distinguished guest appearance...with an Easter bonnet

Maxey... the best dressed ET in the operations berthing space...must be Sunday

...just like he was years earlier

This spotter wants us to rebarrel asap and get back. "Four Star" [guided missle destroyer USS John. S. McCain's S call sign]....was the preferred naval gun fire support unit for accuracy and over-alleffectiveness while there. We got the calls for "friendlies close."...no friendly fire casualties from "Big Bad John's guns....That fact remains unchanged in her Vietnam record of service

Another well used barrel at rest...no time for a paint job

New barrel in place...It's back to the gunline for more..."Will it ever end?"

...and there's always repairs to do

There's only time for a short note mom...We'll be home soon

Snipe...topside for air..."feels so good up here"

Calm seas and an evening sky...next stop Pearl Harbor

...steady steaming back to the states...finally homeward bound

The goods we purchased overseas are safely unloaded onto the pier in our 1971-1970 homeport of San Diego, California...and we're finally back on ground in this...the greatest and only United States of America...land of the free and home of the brave...a piece of real estate always worth fighting for

"I don't think we're their heroes...I'm just getting the mail"

God Bless you all...I think he did us. Did you ask "Is this a free computer background image to use?" Permission is granted and signed 30 March 2008 by the creating author/publisher Raymon H. Filak. Everyone enjoy this for all time...
